Tapas #2 - Focaccia, fancy name, low effort

Ingredients (for around 6 people):

  • 500g Flour (really whichever you want, higher protein 🟰 fluffier result)
  • 400g Water (warm)
  • 12g of Salt
  • Yeast (I use dry instant yeast, you do you)
  • 50ml Olive Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey

Steps:

  1. Mix flour and salt in a big ass mixing bowl
  2. Add yeast
  3. Add water
  4. Add honey
  5. Add around 2/3 of the olive oil
  6. Mix until the flour is incorporated (you can knead the dough if you feel like it, but it’s really not required)
  7. Cover with a wet cloth and let the dough rise for 2ish hours, basically until the dough is nicely risen
  8. Coat a baking dish (big and square works best) in olive oil (don’t be cheap!)
  9. Add dough to the baking dish
  10. Add more olive oil on top of the dough
  11. Optional: do the fun thing where you push your fingers in the dough
  12. Turn on the oven to around 200C and wait till it’s warm
  13. Bake for around 20 minutes

Ideally you want to spice this up a little! You can add:

  • Olives (before you put the dough in the oven)
  • Parmesan (grate on top 5 minutes before the bread is done)
  • Garlic butter (melt it and spread on top)
  • Rosemary (melt some butter or use some oil and add it shortly before the bread is done)
